Bettie, along with Barbara Shansey and Judy Reinsburg, started Vintage Ladies in the spring of 1999. The first introductory meeting was held at Bettie's house along with Barbara and Judy co-hosting. Much to their surprise and delight, around 50 people showed up. Thus, the beginning of Vintage Ladies of Williamsburg. The original Vintage Ladies Chapter was organized in Northern Virginia in 1992. June Hardt, Elaine Kromholz and Bettie were the founders of the first chapter of The Vintage Ladies in Virginia.
